Gurus and acolytes. Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s luxurious forms and thoughts of scientific process, a twisting abstraction echoes the stretching nymph and hides the guru instructing his class along with another class of self-appointed gurus. The experts here are peripheral, obscured from their expected prominence to fade into a background of diagrams, text and a variety of waving patterns by the waves generated by the nymph, perhaps questioning the source of their supposed expertise.
Guardians and ghosts. Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s luxurious forms and thoughts of scientific process, a twisting abstraction almost hides a ghostly dancing figure over luxury self-care wrappers echoing felines gazing inscrutably among astronomical diagrams and texts. The lanky cat is inspired by my sister’s African cat Odin and my Loki’s black nose balances the crater shadows.
